Unlocking Generosity: The potential gains from expanding access to advice on charitable giving

In the order of $7 to $12 billion in extra donations to charity could potentially be unlocked between now and 2030 if Australians could access greater support on charitable giving from financial advisers, accountants, lawyers and fundraisers. Equipping these professionals with the right tools and removing barriers offers the prospect of lifting donations by almost 50 per cent compared to today’s level.

Building futures not barriers: Superannuation that works

This Impact Economics and Policy report (commissioned by Super Consumers Australia and supported by Mob Strong Debt Help) shows that inappropriate regulatory design, discriminatory policies and practices, and inadequate customer service result in too many First Nations peoples being shut out from the superannuation system and denied access to money that is rightfully theirs.

The report identifies the specific changes to laws and regulations, government policies and super fund practices that are needed to improve outcomes for First Nations peoples from the super system.

Economic security in retirement: How life events affect older Australian women

This Impact Economics and Policy report (commissioned by the Super Members Council) uses the latest data and new economic modelling to show how women’s economic security in retirement is often shaped by life events such as separation, informal care demands and family violence that can set women back financially towards the end of their working lives. These life events can exacerbate existing inequalities, including women’s lower average super balances, lower earnings and lower rates of participation in paid work than men.

However, with the right policy settings, we can tackle gender gaps and put more women on track for economic security in retirement.

Navigating towards a more sustainable and supporting market for disability services

This Impact Economics and Policy report (commissioned by nib Thrive) explores four models for rolling out navigators that can help people with a disability to plan services and connect with local providers, as recommended by the NDIS Review.

It finds that navigators have the potential to improve access to services and ensure higher-quality services are delivered. An effective navigator model could also save up to $5.2 billion a year for the NDIS by 2033, making it both more sustainable and more supportive.
